Who Qualifies For A Bursary Or College Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application procedure.

Applications at the moment are open and can close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should satisfy the subsequent requirements:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a home with a combined gross household income that doesn't exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined home income doesn't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and want not post any proof of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from nsfas application homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the correct Id Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are finding out or plan to study in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
